Bad Dreams Afoot

A left foot fell asleep after a few minutes resting in an awkward position beneath the right lower thigh. The foot reveled in dreams of being the right foot, kicking soccer balls, taking the first step, and fondling other naked feet, before it nightmarishly appeared sockless in a crowd of angry Nike high-tops.

The shoes carried him to the front of the Taj Mahal and bound his toes and ankles to a bed of pins and needles while a traditional southern shehnai echoed in the background. With every wiggle, the ropes grew tighter and escape seemed unfathomable. Finally, the foot awoke in a bed of cold foot-sweat, comforted by the realization that the ordeal was all just part of the same recurring foot-dream.
