The telephone company denied allegations earlier today that the adoption of the 666 prefix for many Berkeley residents was intentional. The Squelch has been unable to reach Pacific Bell for comment, but one Berkeley resident had this to say: “This is dramatic proof of what I have been saying for years! This whole place is going straight to hell! YOSHUAAAAAAAA!!!!!”
In a related story, the International Union on Prank Calling reached a milestone decision. From now on, calling up a number with the 666 prefix, asking, “Hello, is this the number of the Beast?” and hanging up is officially not funny.
